When you sleep, your soul/ spirit sits outside of the body, fully aware.

It goes off to do whatever it wants while the body rests.

The reason why you aren’t aware is because your awareness, like the awareness of most people are always asleep — even when awake.

Even when you have no dreams on a given night the soul will return to the point of creation and visit there — this is why we don’t have dreams.

You can tell you left the body, if the spirit is scared of something as simple as realizing that it is away from body. Then, if you have ever experienced this — you will jolt awake from sleeping. This is the spirit coming back to the body in a rush.

The Astral dreams or out of body experience. The ones when you have a so called rope tethered to the Astral/dream body so you can find your way back. The Astral body is light. Quick way to travel throughout everything.

Humans who dreams quite often seem to be either attached or has some more work to do in the Astral plane just like why we are all back in this physical body to do work or to still figure out what it is we have to do.

First, it might help to clear up any confusion with terminology:

Astral projecting and OOBE/OBE are basically the same thing; usually an astral projection will see the participant flying or otherwise being transported quickly to an astral realm, where an OBE usually finds one in familiar surroundings (i.e. the bedroom) — both are a projection of the astral body, and there is much overlap, so all the particulars of definition are left up to opinion.

A lucid dream is becoming aware of the astral plane after losing consciousness — you “come back online” — whereas with a projection or OBE, you usually will not have lost awareness at any point.

Some people are able to fall asleep again in the lucid or astral state and go in to what some call a deeper (or at least different) level of consciousness.

A lot of us spend time flying and otherwise having a spectacularly fun time in lucid dreams or when projecting, but if you quell that desire, you can meditate or attempt to do the falling asleep again thing in your projection, and see where that takes you.

I’m of the opinion that the astral realm is infinite and beyond our current level of comprehension; it’s very likely that where we go and what we experience mirrors our own energy, intent, and level of focus.
